Visteon Recognized With Auto Interiors' Design and Technology Award

16 May, 2001, 01:00 ET from Visteon Corporation

DEARBORN, Mich., May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Visteon Corporation (NYSE: VC) was
awarded for its instrument panel leadership today by taking home a 2nd place
award at the 6th Annual Auto Interiors' Design and Technology Awards program.
Visteon won the award in the Comfort & Convenience Category for its Mold-in-
Color, Polypropylene Instrument Panel, which first made its debut on the 2000
 Ford Escape.

Co-designed by Visteon and ATC, the application was one of the first-to-
market and offers a cost effective, environmentally sound solution that meets
challenging cost, quality and weight objectives for OEMs.
"This award truly represents what Visteon is all about -- innovation,
creativity and value," said John Kill, Visteon's Vice President of Product
Development. "This new entry into Visteon's instrument panel line-up improves
panel recycleability and demonstrates our ability to meet the expectations of
our customers for lower cost and reduced weight products and systems."
When the Mold-in-Color, Polypropylene Instrument Panel is combined with
the recyclable TPO VLIM (Visteon Laminate Insert Molding) technology,
customers are supplied significant product differentiation.
Furthermore, this instrument panel addresses customer quality concerns on
several fronts: it allows for improved appearance by allowing tighter margins
to be designed into the product, which can be accomplished without the use of
expensive felts often used to eliminate squeak and rattle concerns; separate
parts also can be molded in, further reducing cut lines and improving fit-and-
finish appearance; and molded-in clip and hinge designs include fewer noise
problems and improved cost and weight.
Visteon Corporation is a leading full-service supplier that delivers
consumer-driven technology solutions to automotive manufacturers worldwide and
through multiple channels within the global automotive aftermarket. Visteon
has 82,000 employees and a global delivery system of more than 130 technical,
manufacturing, sales, and service facilities located in 23 countries.
