WCCCD Partners with The Child Care Coordinating Council of Detroit/Wayne County (4C) to Host Tools to Better Navigate Resources for Children in 2009 Workshop

DETROIT, May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) in partnership with The Child Care Coordinating Council/TA3# Building Community Partnerships to present a conference entitled, "Tools to Better Navigate Resources for Children in 2009." This event will be held on Friday, May 15 2009, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at WCCCD's Northwest Campus - Welcome Center, located at 8200 W. Outer Drive, Detroit, MI 48219. Please note: Early Registration and Continental Breakfast will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.

The purpose of this workshop is to educate, empower, train and provide assistance to participants who are involved in the child welfare system and directly or indirectly work with or offer services to:

  • Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
  • Relative Care Givers
  • Foster Parents and Future Foster Parents
  • Youth Aging Out of Foster Care
  • Community Representatives
  • Birth Parents working for Reunification

The keynote speaker, Margaret Warner, has over 30 years of experience in child welfare and currently serves as the Wayne County Child Welfare Director of the Children's Services Administration for the Michigan Department of Human Services of Wayne County. Her experience in working with collaborative and community partnerships is extensive, and she is best known for her attention to the needs of all child welfare stakeholders, and her abilities to motivate child welfare staff to achieve results that are child and family focused.

4C of Detroit/Wayne County serves as one of five organizations that provides support services to the aforementioned target population in an effort to insure the provision of quality services and support for children and families involved in the foster care system.

WCCCD is committed to the continued development of new programs, hosting more community-based training sessions, improving student facilities and services, upgrading technologies, making capital investments in massive building expansion projects, and training staff members to enhance their skills to maximize efficiency.
