WebGain, Inc. Joins Eclipse.org Board of Directors

    SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- WebGain, Inc., a leading
 provider of e-business development environments and the award-winning
 TopLink(TM) data integration solutions, today announced that it has accepted
 an invitation from Eclipse.org to join its board of directors.  Eclipse.org is
 an open-source consortium for developing a standard framework that enables
 developers to use different integrated development environments seamlessly.

 supporting streamlining applications to the enterprise very seriously.

     "WebGain was asked to join the Eclipse.org board of directors because of

     WebGain accepted the invitation to join Eclipse.org specifically to
 support and promote data integration for enterprise applications.  Although
 TopLink, WebGain's data integration solution, will not be made an open source
 component of the Eclipse Platform, WebGain will provide guidance and direction
 on the value of data integration products as part of a complete end-to-end
 enterprise solution.
     "Eclipse.org will provide WebGain an amplified voice in our mission to
 encourage companies to use data integration products instead of creating
 custom connections between relational data to object applications," said
 DiFranco.
     Presently, WebGain does not have any plans to release Eclipse Platform
 compatible product offerings.  "We will be working with our enterprise
 customers to find out which parts of Eclipse are important to their needs,"
 said Earl Stahl, executive vice president of engineering and development at
 WebGain.  Stahl will be the WebGain representative on the Eclipse.org board of
 directors.
