Webroot Grows Web Security SaaS Business By 150 Percent
Webroot Web and Email Security Services fuel Webroot growth in security services market
BOULDER, Colo., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a report (1) from industry analyst firm IDC, Webroot® more than doubled its Web security software-as-service (SaaS) revenue from 2007 to 2008 - growing its revenue in this market faster than any other security vendor.
The report, "Worldwide Web Security 2009-2013 Forecast and 2008 Vendor Shares," also predicts growth in the SaaS Web security market -- set to reach $513 million by 2013 with a compound annual growth rate of 46.5% for the next five years -- will exceed the growth of Web security software and appliances revenue.
"Webroot has a long and successful history of protecting organizations and end users worldwide from Web-based threats," said Brian Burke, security program director, IDC. "They pioneered the anti-spyware market twelve years ago and have built a strong solution for Web and email security software-as-a-service, as indicated by their growth in market share. With their technology, strong roadmap and loyal customer base, we expect to see Webroot increase its growth as the industry further adopts SaaS security."
Webroot offers a complete suite of security products and services that allow customers to protect networks against malware threats; to manage security and acceptable use policies; to comply with internal, industry and regulatory security and use policies; and to analyze logs, reports, and data to ensure security and compliance. Delivered as a service, the Webroot Web and Email Security Services reduce total cost of ownership, keep threats from ever reaching the corporate network, and require no additional hardware or software investment.
"Strong investment in the Webroot Web and Email Security Services, organically-driven research and innovative technologies are driving Webroot's strength in the security services market," said Don Beck, senior vice president and general manager, Enterprise Business Unit, Webroot. "Our security solutions protect more than six million users worldwide and enjoy a renewal rate of greater than 95 percent which is a testament to the quality of our offerings and commitment to our customers and channel partners."
The report shows Webroot increased its Web security SaaS revenue from $1.0 million to $2.5 million between 2007 and 2008.
