Website Initiated for Insurance Hall of Fame

    NEW YORK, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- A new website,, has been created by the International
 Insurance Society to feature insurance leaders from around the globe who have
 made creative and lasting contributions in the insurance world.
     Induction into the Insurance Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed on
 insurance leaders.  Since its inception in 1957, 112 people from 20 countries
 have been installed.  The portraits of insurance laureates reside at the
 University of Alabama, and a digital gallery of the leaders is in New York at
 St. John's University.
     Patrick Kenny, president and chief executive officer, International
 Insurance Society, Inc., New York, which manages the Insurance Hall of Fame,
 said that:  "This is the first time that anyone can find in one place -- from
 anywhere in the world -- information about the giants in our industry and
 their accomplishments and impact on society.  This will be a valuable tool for
 those who wish to learn about the evolution of the industry over the years and
 the significance of accomplishments in the industry.  Also, it will be a
 source of pride for those who wish to learn about the leaders in their own
 countries." will feature photos, biographies and in
 some cases video material of the insurance leaders.  The material can be
 accessed easily by country or alphabetically by name.  Links to company web
 sites in the insurance industry affiliated with laureates are also included,
 including the website of the International Insurance Society,  The website has been generously funded by Claire
 and Joseph Smetana of New York.  Mr. Smetana is a retired executive of
 American International Group (AIG).
     Each year, the International Insurance Society inducts two new laureates
 into the Hall of Fame at its yearly meeting.  Qualification for the honor
 includes achievements that have changed the direction of the industry.
