Weight Loss is Charity's Gain
Jenny Craig Employees and Clients Donate Time, Money - And Candy! - For
Various Philanthropic Causes
CARLSBAD, Calif., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- For a company like Jenny
Craig that emphasizes a caring, personalized approach to weight management
and counts "teamwork" as one of its core values, participating in
charitable endeavors across the country is a natural step for their
employees at the Home Office and corporate-owned Centres.
Over the past two months, Jenny Craig staff members have taken part in
several unique altruistic projects -- all designed to benefit those less
fortunate, and all delivered in Jenny Craig's hallmark style of compassion
and concern.
On October 6, Jenny Craig employees observed Lee National Denim Day by
wearing jeans and pink ribbon pins to work in exchange for a five dollar
donation to the Women's Cancer Programs of EIF. In addition to the $10,004
raised nationwide (surpassing last year's collection of $3,645), an
additional $3,000 was contributed by donating two dollars for each pink
Polar Heart Rate Monitor sold in Centres during the month of October. All
proceeds fund innovative breast cancer early detection and treatment
research, and support community-based breast cancer programs.
Right after Halloween, Jenny Craig clients were encouraged to "Dump
Their Junk" by bringing extra Halloween candy to their Centres. The candy
was then given to children at local hospital burn units, enabling the
children to receive much-appreciated treats and Jenny Craig clients to
better adhere to their weight loss programs.
On November 5, 25 employees from Jenny Craig's corporate headquarters
in Carlsbad, CA, joined more than 14,000 runners and walkers for the annual
Susan G. Komen Foundation "Race for the Cure" in San Diego. The Jenny Craig
team wore pink logo'd t-shirts to show Company support, and were part of
the $1.5 million raised locally for breast health education, screening,
research and treatment.
Currently, Jenny Craig is sponsoring a Christmas tree, entitled
"Christmas Wishes," for the Four Seasons Resort Aviara's Holiday Festival
of Trees 2006. Eleven trees are displayed from now through December 28, and
all donations will benefit the Sempre Fi Injured Marine Foundation. This
organization was founded by a small group of concerned Marine Corps spouses
to provide financial grants and cover immediate needs such as rental cars,
childcare, mortgage payments and lost income while injured military
personnel are in the hospital.
