West Shore Window & Door Inc. Supports Injured Soldiers and Their Families To uphold their mission of helping others, West Shore Window & Door Inc. partnered with Operation Second Chance in efforts to "help heroes move on."
MECHANICSBURG, Pa., Nov. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- "Everything we do is based on the goal of helping people. We enjoy giving back to our local community, but we also wanted to extend our reach and help those who have served our country," says Bj Werzyn, Owner of West Shore Window & Door.
In September, West Shore began a social fundraising event for Operation Second Chance on their Company Facebook page. For each Facebook "Like" they received, West Shore donated $1 to the charity. The company's efforts spread quickly throughout social media, where both existing customers and new fans all came together to help raise funds for the organization. As a result, the company donated a total of $1,057 to military personnel and their families.
Operation Second Chance was established in 2004 and has become a leading non-profit organization in the country. The organization lends a helping hand to injured, wounded or ill soldiers at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to make their transition back into civilian life or back to duty much easier.
Every dollar West Shore has donated will go towards providing groceries, clothing and essential items to the patriotic citizens in this medical center, as well as other veterans and their families in military hospitals across the nation.
"It's our way of saying thank you to the men and women who have served our country. We couldn't think of a better way to show our gratitude, but by supporting the troops coming back from duty," says Jesse Pope, Sales Manager at West Shore Window & Door.
West Shore Window & Door contributes much of their success to the members of their local community. What was once a one-man show has now grown into a 75-employee home improvement company, servicing many areas of Pennsylvania and Maryland by offering quality replacement windows, doors, siding and garage doors. During this past year, West Shore has been recognized by numerous publications and has partnered with big box retailer, Wal-Mart, to open their very own Home Improvement Design Center in a local Wal-Mart Supercenter.
"Our fundraising efforts don't stop here. We plan on fundraising for other charities in the future to assist wherever help is needed," says Matt Henderson, Marketing Manager.
