What's On Dubai Launches Online, Celebrating 35 Years in the Region
DUBAI, UAE, November 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
What's On, Dubai's longest running, and still biggest selling entertainment magazine, is launching online with a 'then and now' celebration of the 35 years of amazing change it has witnessed in the Emirate.
Aimed at people looking to make the most of their time in the UAE, the online Dubai city guide is the perfect partner to the print edition. As well as expert opinion, insider info, news, reviews and competitions you've become accustomed to seeing for more than three decades in your What's On Dubai magazine, the site will deliver new and original written, video and multimedia content to engage those looking for things to do in Dubai.
The website has also teamed up with Hype, the UAE's only dedicated weekly music magazine, and Good, which distinctly, wonderfully and refreshingly makes life easier, better and simpler, by changing the way you shop, eat and live.
Group Editor Mark Evans said: "It is a hugely exciting time for What's On as we begin making the same impact digitally as we have done in print for such a long time. We're excited to be building on the brilliant work of our writers and delivering content that is both engaging, insightful and attractive to a worldwide online audience."
As the flagship publication of Motivate, What's On was launched in 1979 at a time when Satwa and Deira were Dubai's go-to neighbourhood for restaurants, bars and country clubs. Within three years of issue one, 36 five-star hotels had opened. Places like the White Oryx pub, Captain's Table at Dubai Marine Hotel and The Bistro near Al Nasr Square were forced to close after stricter alcohol licensing laws came to pass. Making room for a new wave of lifestyle destinations including the likes of Zuma, Mahiki, and Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE.
By What's On's fifth anniversary Muhammad Ali and George Best were just two of the illustrious names to have spoken to the magazine while passing through Dubai. To this day, it continues to attract the biggest names in showbusiness and style, while inspiring the whole community, be they foodies, thrill-seekers, families or fashionistas.
Motivate, which has been established in the region for over thirty years, is the Gulf's leading publisher of magazines and books, with a developing presence in digital platforms, events and cinema. The company recently refreshed its brand and relocated to Dubai Media City, providing a new vision and location to drive further growth and innovation.
