DGA Chair applauds White's strong record, welcomes his entry into Texas governors race

WASHINGTON, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Houston Mayor Bill White's entry into the Texas governor's race today is a game-changer, according to the Democratic Governors Association.

"Mayor White has earned broad support during his time running the city of Houston because he's an executive who knows how to get things done," said DGA Chair Gov. Jack Markell of Delaware. Every one of the most populous states in the country now has strong potential to go blue, with California, Florida and Texas as marquee states in the 2010 election cycle.

The Democratic Governors Association is well positioned for the 37 races of the 2010 election cycle. The DGA has broken fundraising records throughout 2009 and will begin 2010 with its best-ever war chest to provide candidates with the resources they need to compete. The DGA is the only organization dedicated to electing and re-electing Democratic governors.
