Who's Got It Made? The Choice is Yours
Final Week of Voting in Openfilm's $500,000 Short Film Competition
MIAMI, Jan. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Openfilm.com, the online platform exclusive to independent film, has announced the final week of voting in its 2nd Get It Made Competition. The short films competing for feature adaptation financing have been submitted; a record $500,000 grand prize is up for grabs; and only one week remains in the most exciting phase of Openfilm's 2nd Get It Made Competition: the voting and selection of the finalists, and the chance of a lifetime for one filmmaker to Get It Made.
The voting cycle takes place from January 1 through January 31, when the Openfilm community has the opportunity to cast their votes for the short films they think are the best of the best. Voting is open to anyone who registers for a free Openfilm membership.
This voting phase will identify ten finalists; these will be screened by the Openfilm Advisory Board, which includes Chairman James Caan, Robert Duvall, Scott Caan and Mark Rydell. Together the board will decide which film will win the $500,000 grand-prize and be adapted into a feature film with Openfilm Studios.
"Voting is a crucial component of the Get It Made Competition," says James Caan, Chairman of Openfilm. "It gives our community members a voice, allows them to support each other, and enables them to participate in the filmmaking process."
The goal of the Get It Made Competition is to bring an infusion of undiscovered top-shelf talent to the film industry. By identifying short films with the best potential to succeed as feature length movies, the contest gives virtually any filmmaker the chance to bring their efforts to fruition on the big screen. Openfilm supports each winner with a monetary award and promotion through its Advisory Board, strategic partners and digital network.
"Winning the First Openfilm Get It Made Competition was both a personal and professional victory for me," says Val Lauren, whose movie "HELP" earned the Grand Prize. "In addition to the incredible financial support my film received, it provided me the opportunity to work with some of my personal heroes, some of the best in the business. My hat's off to the dream makers and trailblazers at Openfilm."
In the next few weeks, one more filmmaker will have their dream turned into a reality by Openfilm members, the esteemed Advisory Board and Openfilm Studios.
