Wireless LAN Market to Expand by 52 Percent in 2016, According to Dell'Oro Group Forecast
Service Provider Deployment of WiFi to Accelerate
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Jan. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In a newly released market forecast report by Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, overall Wireless LAN (WLAN) market revenues are forecast to reach $9.9 billion in 2016, an increase of 52% over 2011 revenues. Some emerging trends expected to drive this growth include WiFi Offload, the 802.11ac upgrade cycle, consumer video over WiFi, as well as a continuation of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend.

"Service Provider WLAN deployment broadens the overall market size as operators seek to improve their customers' experience and to offload traffic onto their new WiFi networks. We expect to see wireline providers participate in this WiFi services market, and see a trend developing where enterprises will outsource their network operations to service providers," added DePuy.
According to the report, the Enterprise segment will reach $5.0 billion in revenues in 2016, while the SOHO segment will be just slightly smaller, at nearly $4.6 billion. Also included in the report are estimates on total SP unit purchases and WiFi Offload traffic.
