LAS VEGAS, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, July 10, the Las Vegas
Hilton will play host to the world's greatest athletes, entertainers and
sports fans during the 38th Annual Academy of Victor Sports Awards. This
year's star-studded evening continues the Victor Awards' illustrious tradition
as the longest running televised sports awards show and will benefit City of

With a superior list of nominees, fans will be at the edge of their seats
waiting for the winners to be announced. Some of the most highly anticipated
awards for the night include: Pro Basketball Player of the Year, with nominees
Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett; College Football Player of the
Year, with Larry Fitzgerald, Jason White and Eli Manning leading the field;
and Pro Football Player of the Year, with Ray Lewis, Peyton Manning and
Clinton Portis in the running for the top prize. In all, the Victor Awards
will feature 35 categories in 15 sports*. Special awards will also be
presented to Jeffrey Loria, owner of the Florida Marlins, baseball legend
Minnie Minoso, broadcaster Bill Raftery, World War II hero Lt. Walter Ehlers
and football great and American hero Pat Tillman will be inducted into the
Victor Awards Hall of Fame posthumously.
The National Academy of Sports Editors, comprised of a cross-section of
sports editors, writers and broadcasters, vote to determine the winners of the
Awards. Past honorees include some of the sporting world's greatest,
including Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, Pat Riley, Wayne Gretzky, Randy
