DDI Presents 10 Talent Resolutions for 2010
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- As businesses round the corner to another year, a new decade and hope of recovery, it's time for organizations to take a hard look at talent practices, according to talent management expert Development Dimensions International (DDI), who compiled the "10 Talent Resolutions for 2010."
Throughout the month of December, words of wisdom from top industry thought leaders will be posted on DDI's blog, Talent Management Intelligence. Contributors are: management writers Ellen McGirt (Fast Company senior writer), Alexandra Levit (author and Wall Street Journal columnist) and John Hollon (editor, Workforce magazine); bloggers Dan McCarthy (Great Leadership) and Heather Daigle (Speak the Culture); industry thought leaders Peter Cappelli (Wharton School of Business) and Josh Bersin (Bersin & Associates); along with DDI's Mike Hoban (Senior Consultant), Matt Paese (Vice President) and Barry Stern (Vice President).
Some highlights of the resolution countdown include:
- In #9-Be the Love, Ellen McGirt declares, "When people get to become better versions of themselves, by virtue of the work they do, the world changes for the better."
- "Most leaders have good intentions but are often set up to fail," Dan McCarthy explains in #8-Repair the Reputation of Leadership.
- "With a possible economic recovery on the horizon, it is time for America's business leaders to step up and start helping America's workforce out of its funk," warns John Hollon in #6-Walk the Talk.
- Matt Paese observes in #5-Vaccinate: For Growth: "Growth and fear are brothers. As we strive forward, each of us faces our own fears and responds in our own unique ways."
- "In essence, when our brain goes into threat management mode, our ability to think critically is diminished," Heather Daigle explains of the brain science behind motivation in #3-Ask More, Tell Less.
- "The reason talent mobility is so critical is that no business stands still," Josh Bersin explains in #1-Expand Succession Management to Talent Mobility.
The entire series will be available on January 4, 2010 and are posted individually throughout the month of December.
