FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Jan. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The $100,000 Bill Bone Pro-Am Race Series (BBPA) is back and ready for year two. After an extremely successful inaugural year, the series is back and it's time to get ready for an even more intense second season.
The adrenaline rushing race season will include ten races in total - 6 BBPA Classic and 4 Regular BBPA - at premiere racing venues. We will also be hosting the State Crit this year. A Criterium or Crit is a bike race held on a short course, usually less than 5 km, often run on closed-off city center streets.
The BBPA was formed in a collaborative effort to provide the best talent in racing, offer high profile challenging courses, create geographical diversity, and foster a quality memorable experience with points, prizes and a purse to excite everyone. "Our goal is to make the Florida racing experience the best in the southeast," said Pat Patregnani, captain of the zMotion team.
Racers can compete in the Masters 30+, Masters 40+, Masters 50+ and Masters 60+ age levels and various categories. The first race series runs from February to June, with second season held from September to November.
Based on racer feedback, changes were made in race times for this upcoming season that will offer longer races and more time to compete for bigger purses. The weekend race purse consists of $6000 without Time Trials and $7500 with Time Trials.
Last year's inaugural series debut was an incredible success with more than $100,000 in cash and prizes awarded, including a 2012 Nissan Rogue SV. Close to 300 racers competed in each race.
The Bill Bone Pro-Am is part of the USA Cycling national ranking system and part of the Florida Point Series. For more information go to www.billboneproam.com.
