SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Zero Motorcycles today announced it was awarded "Best Electric Motorcycle" at the first international fair for electric mobility, eCarTec 2009. Companies from all over the world gathered in Munich, Germany with hopes of being acknowledged as one of the most inventive and promising projects, products or technologies from the field of electric mobility.
"Zero Motorcycles is thrilled to receive such an admirable award in the presence of so many innovative and environmentally friendly companies from around the world," says Edwin Belonje, Director of European Sales & Marketing, Zero Motorcycles. "Our focus on engineering electric motorcycles from the ground up allowed us to win this award and we will continue to drive this technology in years to come."
The Zero X is a high performance electric motorcycle that is designed for the trail. It utilizes Zero's proprietary lithium-ion power pack and an aircraft grade aluminum frame to achieve an exceptionally high power to weight ratio and extended range. Built from the ground up to leverage the electric drivetrain, this stealthy motorcycle races up hills, flies over jumps and splashes through streams without disturbing nature or neighbors. The Zero X is particularly well suited to highly populated areas where noise and emissions restrictions have eliminated the use of gasoline powered motorcycles.
Zero Motorcycles first entered the motorcycle industry in 2006 with the all-electric Drift. In 2008 they launched the Zero X which exceeded all expectations by selling out before the year end. Its success blazed the path for the long awaited launch of the Zero S supermoto motorcycle in April. Earlier this summer, Zero Motorcycles announced another addition to its electric motorcycle product lineup with the Zero MX which is made specifically for track riding and motocross. In August, Zero Motorcycles revealed the highly anticipated and most versatile electric motorcycle yet, the Zero DS.
