SHENZHEN, China, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Zhenai.com, China's largest matchmaking website, announced that the number of its registered members reached 20,022,000 on July 31, 2009. With an average of 40,000 new members each day, the website has, for the first time, exceeded the membership registered on Match.com in the United States (with a membership of 15,000,000 and a daily increment of 60,000 by May of 2009, according to Match.com's website), thus becoming the world's largest matchmaking website by number of registered members.

Jiayuan, a Chinese dating website that closely trails Zhenai.com in the number of registered members, announced on its official website that its total registered members bypassed 17,580,000 on July 31, 2009, with 20,000 new members registering each day. iResearch Consulting predicted that the number of Chinese online daters will reach 140,000,000 by 2010. Presently these two websites account for nearly one third of the total registered members in mainland China.

Does the enormous increase in registered members coincide with revenue growth? "At this stage, the growth potential of Chinese online daters remains huge. We expect the number of our registered members to reach 30 million by the end of the first quarter of 2010. Zhenai.com now generates higher monthly revenue than the combined monthly revenues of our three closest competitors in China, thanks to our unique service model of combining online search with telephone-based matchmaking," said Dr. Song Li, the founder of Zhenai.com and a Morgan Stanley banker-turned serial Internet entrepreneur.

A report released by iResearch Consulting shows that Chinese online daters would account for 44.7% of all registered members online by 2010, creating a market of up to RMB 1.2 billion.
