Dr. Burgess has a strong background in Life Sciences with a particular focus in molecular biology, in vivo drug target validation, and genetic engineering. He was formerly the Director of Scientific Sourcing and New Technologies at Serologicals Corporation, a 1000-employee bio tools and reagents company that realized $275M in 2005 revenue. There he provided long- term visionary guidance for the company through the establishment of key relationships and partnerships with academic researchers and institutions. Burgess holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He has received numerous awards, including an appointment to the Governor's Blue Ribbon Steering Committee for the Southern California Life Sciences Summit and was a Visiting Scholar at Georgia Tech University.
