The Ball Aerospace, DigitalGlobe, Exelis and Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services team have successfully moved one step closer to launching the next-generation WorldView-3 commercial remote sensing satellite.  Scheduled to launch on August 13, the WorldView-3 satellite was encapsulated within the rocket fairing on July 25. The payload fairing assembly is now at the Vandenberg Air Force Base launch pad and mated to the 57-meter tall Lockheed Martin Atlas V launch vehicle awaiting launch. Ball Aerospace completed thermal vacuum and environmental tests on critical components for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Membrane Optic Imager Real-Time Exploitation (MOIRE) telescope.  Two sections of the primary mirror composite back structure and the structure deployment hinges successfully underwent environmental tests to simulate the temperature range and vacuum of a space environment. Ball Aerospace and the U.S. Air Force demonstrate new human performance technologies at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio.  The technologies have helped former quadriplegic IndyCar driver Sam Schmidt to safely drive a Corvette C7 'Stingray.' Ball and the AFRL are collaborating on the initiative known as the SAM Project, standing for "semi-autonomous motorcar" with Arrow Electronics, Inc., Schmidt Peterson Motor Sports and Falci Adaptive Motorsports.  Schmidt will officially demonstrate the SAM vehicle at speed at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway later this month.
