Denver's History Colorado Center has become known for its hands-on, experiential exhibits and as a center for learning for all ages since opening in April 2012. The History Colorado Center's newest exhibit, "Living West," is an experiential journeys into the deep relationships between Colorado's people and the land through three stories:  life in the Mesa Verde region 800 years ago, the 1930s Dust Bowl on the southeastern plains, and today's Rocky Mountains. Visitors explore how people have struggled, survived and thrived in Colorado's fierce and fragile landscape. History Colorado is pleased to announce the addition of a second State Historical Fund (SHF) grant cycle for fall 2013. The Joint Budget Committee recommended allocating $5 million in General Fund dollars toward the final payment for the restoration of the State Capitol dome, which the General Assembly approved as part of the Long Bill. SHF was created by the 1990 constitutional amendment allowing limited gaming in Cripple Creek, Central City and Black Hawk. The amendment directs that a portion of gaming tax revenues be used for historic preservation throughout the state. Funds are distributed through a competitive process.
