What is ProfNet Connect?
ProfNet Connect is a free online network for journalists, bloggers, PR professionals, experts and other key influencers to network and communicate with one another. You can profile yourself and your experts, contribute blog posts, participate in forums, and more.
Are ProfNet members vetted?
All ProfNet members must also be members of PR Newswire, which verifies that members are legitimate businesses. In addition, all ProfNet members must sign our Terms & Conditions, which state, among other things, that queries are not be used as stepping-off points that have no relevance to the reporter's request; queries are to be treated as confidential, disclosed to others only on a need-to-know basis and not posted on a public site; and email addresses obtained through ProfNet are not to be used for unsolicited, mass-email messages.
Can I submit a query for products for review?
If you are on staff at your publication, you may submit requests for products for review. If you are a freelancer, we will ask you to provide documentation confirming your assignment. (Usually, we ask to confirm it with your editor, but alternate forms may be acceptable.) If you are a blogger, we require that your blog comply with the FTC blogger guidelines regarding product reviews, and that your blog has been live for at least six months.
How can I use ProfNet Connect to find expert sources?
With nearly 50,000 users that cover nearly every topic imaginable, ProfNet Connect is a great way to search for sources. You can access ProfNet Connect in two ways: 1) register for the site to have full access to profiles; 2) log on to the ProfNet site and click on Search Expert -- you will be redirected to ProfNet Connect with full access to view all profiles.

Can I submit a request for regular people? Or is it limited to experts?
You may also use ProfNet for "man on the street" type of interviews. Just submit the query in the regular manner, and we'll tag it as a "non-expert" request.
Can I add my own profile to ProfNet Connect?
Absolutely! The benefits of ProfNet Connect go beyond searching for experts. You can participate in forums, post on the site's Blog section to increase traffic to your own blog, and share your own expertise.

What are Expert Alerts & Roundups?
An Expert Alert is sort of a reverse query -- instead of a reporter asking for an expert, a PR person provide a few sentences "alerting" reporters to an expert who is available to discuss a timely topic. ProfNet editors also compile expert roundups on breaking news; for example: the presidential election, the Gulf oil spill, same-sex marriage. Alerts are sent to you by email according to a scheduled based on your coverage area: Mondays - Business, Finance & Technology; Wednesdays - Government, Law, Education & Science; Fridays - Health, Entertainment & Living. You can sign up to receive alerts by emailing profnetalerts@prnewswire.com.
