NEWARK, N.J., Aug. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Legal-Bay LLC, The Lawsuit Settlement Funding Company, reports that a jury in Manhattan Federal Court ordered a Wall Street CEO to pay $18 million to his former employee. The woman was sexually harassed for over a year after she refused his advances, and then fired, according to the NY Daily News. Jurors reached the verdict in the end of June, awarding $2 million in compensatory damages and $16 million in punitive damages.

Sexual misconduct and sexual harassment cases like this unfortunately occur, and Legal-Bay has been an industry leader in funding these cases pre-settlement, or after a verdict that is on appeal. Unfortunately, these cases can be complex in nature and can often take a lot of time to resolve as they typically involve many intertwined claims starting with wrongful termination, retaliation, whistleblower or qui tam claims, sexual abuse, sexual harassment and/or discrimination.

Chris Janish, CEO, commented on the company's focus of assisting plaintiffs in these situations, "These cases can be very tough to resolve due to the many factors that go into the filing of this type of claim. And in the recent case where a large judgment or jury award is achieved, then typically the defendant will appeal and the verdict on appeal could take even longer to settle or resolve. Throughout the whole process, our firm is one of the few that can advance funds from the start of the pre-settlement litigation to the verdict on appeal funding portion."

Legal-Bay, a lawsuit money firm, is committed to aiding victims involved in such cases.
