Enterprise Customers

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from 2netFX

    SAN JOSE, Calif., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- 2netFX, a leader in the
development of streaming-media technology, announces the availability of its
ThunderCastIP Advanced Media Server version 3.5 at NAB 2001 in Las Vegas, NV.
The new server software offers a handful of features that will benefit the
 enterprise-streaming customer.
"Our ThunderCastIP Advanced Media Server sets the standard for streaming
VHS to HDTV quality video in the enterprise," says 2netFX Director of Product
Marketing Bob Gilbert. "Its set of enterprise driven features includes
streaming of live or pre-recorded VHS to HDTV quality content, remote
management and scheduling, FlashVideo 'auto play' broadcasting, EasyProducer
interface, Bandwidth Control, Media Asset Management, and Satellite and
 Encoder interoperability.
Ability to deliver the highest-quality media across enterprise networks
and emerging long distance Internet infrastructures such as LAN/WAN,
satellite, MCI WorldCom's VBNS, Enron, Sprint and Internet2 according to
Gilbert, is a critical requirement of many corporations, universities,
government agencies, military establishments, and medical organizations.

     Live Event Broadcasting
ThunderCastIP v3.5's integrated support for popular MPEG-1, 2, 4/H.263 and
HDTV Encoders simplify broadcasting live events. Advanced multi-encoder
support allows several MPEG encoders to be controlled simultaneously from a
single server interface, lowering multiple stream delivery costs. With
support for satellite re-broadcasting, ThunderCastIP v3.5 can receive content
from a satellite downlink and re-broadcast the data across a network using IP
 multicast.
Says Gilbert, "2netFX's patent-pending Easy Producer Web-based interface
includes an intuitive remote scheduling feature for live or pre-recorded
programs that integrates with StreamRider Advanced Media Player v3.5. Users
select programs from a variety of network servers and with one click, can
subscribe to a program for future viewing or select a program and record it
 for later viewing."
Live multicast broadcasts can be scheduled to any number of users with
ThunderCastIP's built-in remote scheduling and program guide. Multicasting,
Gilbert explains, allows thousands of users to view a broadcast from a single
stream, minimizing bandwidth requirements. When coupled with 2netFX's
StreamRider, users access a program guide, select programs to view, and
receive notification when selected programs will start.

     Prerecorded Video Broadcast
Rebroadcasting or scheduling multiple delivery times is accomplished from
local or remote sites using ThunderCastIP. Archived media files are
accessible for scheduled broadcast anytime and are also available to viewers
on a Video on Demand basis (VoD).

     Enterprise Infrastructure Ready
ThunderCast Server v3.5 is ideally suited for delivery across LAN/WAN,
satellite, MCI WorldCom's VBNS, Enron, Sprint, Internet2 and other long
distance network infrastructures. Using IP Multicast technology, content
quality up to high definition 1080i can be broadcast real-time to a virtually
unlimited number of users on the network using only a fraction of the
bandwidth. IP Multicasting of HDTV quality video coupled with 2netFX's
bandwidth control mechanism provides an excellent balance of video quality vs.
bandwidth utilization. Whether the connection is a 2-foot crossover cable or
a 5,000 mile connection over Internet2, ThunderCastIP provides an ideal means
to broadcast content across the network.
