SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Good Technology™, the leader in secure mobility, today provided an update to its patent trial with MobileIron in the Northern District of California, currently one of four patent cases in the U.S. and abroad.
Yesterday, a Northern District of California jury issued a verdict essentially of "non-ruling" in the patent infringement cases between Good Technology and MobileIron. The verdict denied all claims made on both sides in the case, clearly stating that neither Good nor MobileIron was able to enforce any claim or secure any damages in this case. Read the court's final order. Additionally, the jury considered just three of Good Technology's nearly 300 issued and pending international security and mobility patents. This U.S. trial is the first of several international disputes between MobileIron and Good.
"While yesterday's verdict did not render a winning verdict on either side, we knew going into this trial that it was the first of four and only just the beginning of this dispute," said Christy Wyatt, chairman and CEO at Good Technology. "We remain committed to protecting our engineers and innovators from infringement and our customers from false marketing. We will continue to aggressively defend our intellectual property."
Good has three additional patent trials scheduled against MobileIron – December 2015 in the United Kingdom, June 2016 in Germany and another U.S. (California) trial in August 2016. It's important to note that MobileIron has not asserted any patents against Good in any jurisdictions outside the U.S.
For almost two decades, Good has focused on security, gone through hundreds of pen-tests and has achieved numerous global data security certifications and accreditations such as: CESG Configuration Guidance, NIST FIPS 140-2 validated encryption, ISO 19790, ADS EPL 4, Android and iOS STIG, U.S. Army CON.
Good remains the only company that can provide customers with a cross platform mobile collaboration solution that has achieved Common Criteria EAL-4+ certification, and the only solution to meet this level on either iOS or Android. This is recognized in several countries including the UK, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, France, USA, Canada, Austria, Israel, Norway, Korea and many more.
GOOD BUILDS ON LEAD IN EMM AND MOBILE SECURITY MARKETS
On July 29, 2015, Gartner published its inaugural Critical Capabilities for High-Security Mobility Management report1. Of the nineteen vendors that Gartner reviewed, Good achieved the highest product score in all six use cases, including the very common BYO use case. The other use cases include Shared Devices, Nonemployee, High-Security Commercial, High-Security Government Grade, and Shared Data. The report evaluation is based on Good Work™, the company's market-leading business-class email and collaboration app. No other vendor, including MobileIron, scored anywhere near what Good did.
Additionally, IDC recently recognized Good Technology as the largest pure-play EMM provider in its 2014 Worldwide EMM Market Share report2. Good is credited for having the second largest revenue share of the EMM software market with 9.7 percent, a significant increase over its fifth place share in 2013. Good was also recently positioned as a leader for the fifth consecutive year in the 2015 Magic Quadrant for EMM suites report by Gartner. The report noted that Good provides the industry's most advanced email solution, stringent security and a broad range of capabilities offered by the Good Dynamics® Secure Mobility Platform3.
