OptiGlobe and 360networks today announced a multi-year agreement that will
enable the two companies to reach more customers throughout Latin America.
As part of the agreement, 360networks will establish network points of
presence (POPs) at OptiGlobe's advanced Internet Data Centers (IDCs) in Sao
Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. OptiGlobe will provide facilities and
support services to 360networks beginning in June 2001.

will link the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Bermuda by the
third quarter of 2001. 360americas will span 29,000 kilometers (18,000 miles)
and offer a total capacity of 1.28 terabits per second.
The estimated value of the agreement is US $25 million, but has the
potential to grow to approximately $100 million.
OptiGlobe delivers a broad portfolio of colocation and complex outsourced
hosting solutions from its $100 million state-of-the-art, carrier neutral
facilities. The company's 5th generation IDCs are built to the industry's
highest level of quality and availability. OptiGlobe's facilities are the
fastest growing and best connected IDCs in Latin America. Seventeen telecom
carriers have established fiber connections in OptiGlobe's Sao Paulo facility,
with over 15 gigabits per second of throughput capacity.
"360networks and OptiGlobe are both Latin American pioneers with
complementary services," said Scott Puritz, OptiGlobe Communications Inc.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We chose 360networks for its unequaled
optical mesh network and bandwidth capabilities in the region. We believe
that this is the first stage in a strong and ongoing relationship with
 360networks."
"We selected OptiGlobe for its reliability, access to a large base of
customers and connections to major local and long-haul carriers in South
America," said Jimmy Byrd, Chief Operating Officer of 360networks. "This
agreement enables 360networks and OptiGlobe to expand their presence quickly
