A-dec Standardizes on Autodesk Inventor Software

North America's Largest Dental Equipment Maker Expects 25% Savings

In Time to Market

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ --
Autodesk, Inc., today announced that A-dec (www.a-dec.com), one of the largest
dental equipment manufacturers in the world, standardized on Autodesk
Inventor(TM) software for the design and manufacture of its products. A-dec
purchased 30 licenses of the high-performance 3D mechanical design software
after evaluating several other products including SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER,
and thinkdesign. A-dec selected Autodesk Inventor for its ease of use and
comprehensive feature set, two key requirements for its design and
 manufacturing teams.

"I envision everyone here using the software -- from design
conceptualization through manufacturing. That scenario will help us reduce
time-to-market," said Ted Saufley, A-dec's CAD Manager. "Autodesk Inventor is
one of those rare packages that allows both power users and occasional users
to easily pick up where they left off regardless of how long they are away
from using the software-whether it's weeks or months. The ease of use is such
a tremendous factor for companies like A-dec that need everyone to be
 productive quickly."

Ease of Use and Greater Productivity Are Mission-Critical Requirements
In anticipation of standardizing on the Autodesk Inventor product, A-dec
recently purchased Master CAM for its manufacturing operations. A-dec plans to
integrate Autodesk Inventor with Master CAM to automate shop floor processes.
As a result, A-dec anticipates a time-savings of up to 25 percent on tasks
associated with part design, N/C programming, and final manufacture. This will
help A-dec remain successful in a fiercely competitive marketplace. "It's
clear that as a result of implementing Autodesk Inventor, our parts will be
designed and manufactured a lot faster," noted Saufley.
Robert Kross, Autodesk's vice president of the Manufacturing Division,
agrees. "Autodesk Inventor customers realize significant time-savings as a
direct result of using the software. We know that manufacturers that serve the
fast-paced medical and healthcare-related industries feel tremendous pressure
to generate innovative designs while adhering to stringent production
schedules. With its ease of use and ability to make customers productive in
one day, Autodesk Inventor is the only 3D MCAD solution that enables companies
to migrate to a new package while simultaneously remaining productive."

     Partnering for Success
During the software evaluation period, A-dec worked with KETIV
Technologies (www.ketiv.com), Autodesk's premier mechanical software reseller
in the Portland, Oregon, area. Saufley adds, "KETIV went the extra step by
researching our work processes to determine our needs. Since selecting
Autodesk Inventor, KETIV professionals have worked very closely with us by
scheduling in-house training for all our engineers, conducting a technology
day here to demonstrate the software and answer questions, and providing
 ongoing technical support and consulting."
