Absolut Coup Cements Maxxium's Place in the Big League According to just-drinks.com

    LONDON, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- http://www.just-drinks.com -- Maxxium's
recent deal to distribute Absolut has placed the global distribution company
 firmly on the map.
     A special interview at
 http://www.just-drinks.com/features_detail.asp?art=421&app=1&fotw=sct with
Maxxium CEO Roland Van Bommel examines his thoughts on the coup, and the
 company's plans for the future.
"We are now definitely one of the major players in the industry. And I
see us developing into one of the top three companies in terms of
 distribution," he states.
The deal places Maxxium at number three in terms of retail value, with
annual sales of around $40bn. The integration of Absolut, although a
challenging process, will fill the hole in the company's white spirit
portfolio, and there are few plans to change the product's strategy
-- according to Van Bommel "it is a brand that's flying".
What Maxxium does foresee is entering several new markets, primarily in
Eastern Europe. It is also leaving the door open for further joint ventures
 and acquisitions.
"The Maxxium vehicle is geared towards potentially more shareholders," Van
Bommel reveals. "We are talking about a situation in the industry of
relatively rapid consolidation. If you take into account the low growth in
the overall spirits market in the next 12-24 months, I think there will be
more pressure on consolidation and an increase in the speed of consolidation
 in the next two years."
