Adaptec's Vice-President of Worldwide Sales Retires

    MILPITAS, Calif., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Adaptec, Inc. (Nasdaq:   ADPT),
 the global leader in data storage access solutions, announced today that its
 vice president of worldwide sales, Tim Fondiller, is retiring at the end of
 this month.
     Fondiller, 52, joined Adaptec last year.  His efforts to streamline sales
 operations have helped position Adaptec for future growth and will enable the
 company to reinforce its presence as a world-leader in storage access products
 and solutions.
     Adaptec's president and CEO, Bob Stephens, said a search for Fondiller's
 replacement will begin immediately.  He added that chief operating officer
 Bob Schultz, will take over as acting vice president of worldwide sales in the
 interim.
