Adaptinet Releases QUOTER, a Powerful Peer-to-Peer Application Demonstrating Real-Time Data Distribution Using the Adaptinet Platform

Nov 15, 2001, 00:00 ET from Adaptinet

NEW YORK, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Adaptinet, a company leading the
way in adaptive networking software, has released Quoter, a peer-to-peer
application that demonstrates real-time data distribution using the Adaptinet
 software infrastructure.
Quoter is a simple stock quote application. What makes it unique is the
fact that it is plugged into an Adaptinet network of other Quoter applications
running on computers around the Internet. After subscribing to a set of
ticker symbols, stock quotes are pushed to Quoter from other Quoter clients
 within the network.
The beauty of this network structure is that information (in this case a
stock quote) is only retrieved from its source once. After it is retrieved it
is distributed to every Quoter subscriber in the network using a peer-to-peer
 based distribution mechanism.
"Quoter demonstrates the power of our software infrastructure for
real-time data distribution," says Todd Fearn, CEO of Adaptinet. "Any
real-time data distribution application can be created very easily using the
basis of what we have designed here. Actually, using this application
infrastructure, real-time data could be distributed to thousands of
subscribers using a single stand-alone server."
The Adaptinet platform is a complete Java software infrastructure for
developing distributed applications. HTTP and XML are used as the
communications transport. The software, bundled as the Adaptinet SDK,
provides a greater part of the infrastructure required for distributed
application development. The software, source-code and documentation for both
the Adaptinet SDK and the Quoter demonstration application are now available
 for download at http://www.adaptinet.com/download.
Adaptinet has released its software platform as open-source under the GNU
General Public License. For more information regarding the GNU General Public
License, please write to the Free Software Foundation, Inc. at 59 Temple
Place, Suite 330, Boston, MA 02111-1307.

     About Adaptinet
Adaptinet is leading the way in adaptive networking software, a new
category of infrastructure software for distributed architectures. Information
and services, once tightly held at the core of the network on expensive,
centralized servers, are rapidly migrating to the periphery of the network.
Adaptinet is building applications that utilize and empower these intelligent
and independent nodes. The Company has released its platform technology
(the Adaptinet SDK) into open-source under the GNU General Public License.
Adaptinet is a privately held company with offices in New Jersey. Additional
information about Adaptinet is available at http://www.adaptinet.com.
