ADDCO Selected by Mn/DOT for $3.4 Million Transportation Operations And Communications Center ITS Contract

    ST. PAUL, Minn., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- ADDCO, Inc. announced today that
 it has been selected by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) as
 the prime contractor for a large ITS implementation in Districts 6 and 7,
 including the cities of Rochester and Mankato, Minn.  The multi-faceted
 contract provides for many ITS components and systems, including dynamic
 message signs, surveillance, machine vision detection, automated bridge
 de-icing, vehicle preemption, and in-vehicle data systems.  The systems
 deployed will tie many of these devices and subsystems into various
 transportation management centers using ADDCO's Virtual Transportation
 Operation Center (VTOC(TM)) software.
     ADDCO, in conjunction with its team members URS, SRF Consulting, Alliant
 Engineering, and Castle Rock Consultants, will also perform a number of vital
 traffic studies, such as traffic signal timing, control and monitoring and a
 district-wide ITS plan.
     The systems and services deployed by the ADDCO team are designed to
 address a number of vital traffic challenges in these two Minnesota districts.
 Both districts face a need for increased safety, traffic monitoring and
 traveler information in rural and urban settings.  The project will also
 enable enhanced safety and congestion management coinciding with a key
 reconstruction project in the Rochester area.
