Mar 05, 2001, 00:00 ET from ADVA International Inc.

    COLUMBIA, S.C., March 5 /PRNewswire/ --
ADVA International Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ADII) today announced that
the Company has completed the previously announced plan to acquire all of the
outstanding common shares of Global Information Group USA, Inc. ("GIG") in
exchange for 12,468,750 common shares of ADVA International Inc., or
approximately 95% of the total number of common shares outstanding. The
remaining 716,250 shares, approximately 5%, will continue to be held by the
existing shareholders of the Company. As a result of the transaction GIG has
become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, and the operations of GIG are
essentially the operations of the Company. Anthony E. Mohr, President of GIG,
has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of ADVA International
Inc., effective immediately, and three new members have been appointed by GIG
to the ADVA board of directors, which now consist of six members.
GIG paid a $300,000 transaction fee at closing to Advanced Medical
Products, Inc., Debtor in Possession, which will be used for payment of
certain transaction expenses, with the balance to be paid to priority claims
and unsecured creditors. Advanced Medical Products, Inc. changed its name to
ADVA International Inc. and its NASD stock trading symbol to ADII following
the sale of its assets through a 363 Chapter 11 bankruptcy sale in May 1999.
Global Information Group develops and markets application software that
runs on the Linux(R) Operating System. Its present software product, first
developed for the UNIX(R) OS, is believed to be the only complete 3D solid
modeling, animation, and rendering system currently available on the Linux(R)
OS. GIG software is designed for digital media professionals in the
production of: film and video special effects; animation; Computer Aided
Design (CAD) and scientific visualization; Internet web site and print
graphics; game development; and virtual television. Future GIG plans include
the further development and acquisition of other Linux(R)-based applications
 and software products.
The Linux(R) OS is "open-source" software, distributed free on the
Internet and via established market channels. It is developed, debugged and
improved by an international community of programmers in cooperation with
organizations such as Linux(R).org, VA Linux(R) (LNUX), Red Hat(R) (RHAT),
SGI(R) (SGI), IBM(R), Compaq(R) and many other major concerns in the computer
industry. The application software market targeted by GIG can be
characterized as the "low cost/high performance" segment of the computer
market where users are rapidly embracing Linux(R) as a robust, stable and
lower cost alternative to both UNIX(R) and Windows. Linux(R) is widely
believed to be the fastest growing computer operating system and the de facto
alternative to both UNIX(R) and Microsoft Windows(R), with continued growth in
market share predicted by many industry analysts.
