Advanced Computer Storage Technology Unveiled

Apr 04, 2001, 01:00 ET from Solution Technology, Inc.

NAPERVILLE, Ill., April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Solution Technology, Inc. on
Thursday will unveil a Storage Area Network (SAN) Solution Center here, the
only one of its kind in the Chicago area designed to demonstrate how companies
inundated in computer-generated data can better manage their information.
"Our SAN Solution Center will give I.T. and business executives an
opportunity to see firsthand how the latest storage technology can help them
not just organize a flood of information, but to turn that information into a
competitive advantage," said Jeffrey J. Teeter, president of the Indianapolis-
 based Solution Technology, Inc.
Data storage and management is a major growth segment of the computer
industry, as the amount of electronically generated information grows
exponentially. How to efficiently organize, analyze, protect and retrieve
that information -- 24 hours a day and seven days a week -- is an increasingly
critical problem for many companies that are looking for ways to beat the
 storage squeeze.
"Our SAN Solution Center represents more than just the latest hardware for
handling those problems," said Darrin J. Shallcross, Solution Technology Vice
President, Business Development. "We also offer the kind of expert, personal
service to implement the customized solutions that our customers require.
"IT managers and their staffs will be able to spend whatever time is
necessary in the SAN Solution Center with our consultants. We will simulate
their storage environment, so they will have all the information they need to
make informed purchasing decisions, before wading into what, to many, may seem
to be a daunting and complex area."
SAN technology can manage data from many different systems seamlessly with
very little user intervention. More systems management can be accomplished
with fewer people. Among other important benefits, a SAN implementation can
also improve a company's batch processing operation, quickly recover data from
past transactions and provide secure backups in case of accidental deletions,
changes or disasters such as fires.
Most companies looking for ways to deal with the data crunch already are
familiar with SAN technology, but may be unprepared to craft the right
solutions required by their particular needs. Solution Technology can design a
company's entire storage infrastructure, provide the hardware and software,
 and implement that particular architecture.
Solution Technology has invested heavily in the new Center, located in the
company's Naperville office. To mark the opening of the Center, Solution
Technology on Thursday, April 5, will host a SAN in Action Seminar, featuring
discussions by storage technology industry leaders, including personnel from
Solution Technology. Among the experts will be John McArthur, Vice President
Worldwide Storage Research, IDC Corp., which provides custom research and
consulting on product requirements and marketing strategies for storage and
 storage management solutions.
This will be the first of regularly scheduled monthly seminars at Solution
Technology for businesses and institutions to learn more about storage
technology. "The most important benefit I.T. users receive from these seminars
is their ability to visit the SAN Solution Center and see for themselves live
demonstrations of the capabilities of a SAN. We invite all who are interested
to take advantage of these seminars, or to contact us for a personalized
presentation of this remarkable technology," Shallcross said.
