AEP Schedules Live Webcast of Company's Annual Meeting

    COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- American Electric Power
 (NYSE:   AEP) will provide a live webcast of its annual meeting of shareholders,
 which begins at 10:30 a.m. EDT Wednesday, April 25.  The meeting will be held
 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
     The webcast, which will provide both audio and video from the meeting,
 will be available by selecting the "annual meeting webcast" link on the
 company's web site: http://www.AEP.com .
     Minimum hardware and software requirements for watching the webcast are:
 Windows Media Player software, downloadable for free from
 http://windowsmedia.com/redir/download ; 28.8 Kbps connection to the Internet,
 although a higher-speed connection is recommended; 166 MHz processor or
 faster; 32 MB of RAM, although 64 MB or more is recommended; and a display
 capability of 256 colors or better.
     The annual meeting comments by E. Linn Draper Jr., AEP's chairman,
 president and chief executive officer, will be archived and be available for
 viewing at AEP's web site through May 2.
