AFCEA DC Announces its Spring Leadership Award Winners from the Five Armed Forces

WASHINGTON, May 1, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association's DC Chapter (AFCEA DC), a non-profit association dedicated to providing our members with technical, policy, regulatory, program and budget information that directly shapes federal technology decisions in the Defense & Security arena, today announced its Spring Leadership Award Winners, the 2014 Technology Heroes from the Five Armed Forces. 

The 7th Annual AFCEA DC Leadership Awards Dinner will be held – May 15, 2014 at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA, starting at 6 P.M.  This awards dinner is an opportunity to "network" with some of the major Executive Leadership and Top Brass from the DoD and Civilian Agencies.  You'll have a chance to interact with leading Cyber, Emerging Technology and Mobility Executives as well as this year's award winners!

AFCEA DC will recognize members from each branch of the military that had made a significant contribution to the Warfighter through the use of Information Technology. This recognition will be given to two members (one enlisted and one officer stationed anywhere in the world) from each of the armed services – US Army, US Marine Corps, US Navy, US Air Force, US Coast Guard – and two service members in joint staff positions, who were nominated for their contributions in calendar year 2013.  Special consideration was given for decisive bravery.

The event will include a reception at the Army Navy Country Club, a keynote presentation, dinner and an opportunity to meet and greet Leaders in the IT Community.  This Year's 2014 Military IT Leadership Awardees include: U.S. Army SSG Gabriel Heglie and CPT James Torrence; U.S. Marine Corps GySgt Bryant Aguero and Maj Karl Schlegel; U.S. Navy PO1 Lee Vanderpool and LT Christopher Martin; U.S. Air Force SSgt Denise Klug and Maj Gregory Roberts; U.S. Coast Guard CPO Scott Reckner and LT John Mundale; from the Joint Commands: SFC Terry Collins, USA, PO1 Erik Conatser, USCG, Capt Gary Priest, USAF and Capt Eric Suter, USAF.
