Air Methods Expands Operations in Illinois

    DENVER, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Methods Corporation (Nasdaq: AIRM)
 today announced it is expanding its operations in Illinois with the addition
 of a new base and full time 24/7 air medical helicopter service.  The new
 base, located in the Litchfield area of central Illinois, will be operated by
 its ARCH Air Medical Service, Inc. subsidiary (ARCH), headquartered in St.
 Louis, Missouri.
     The new base is part of the Company's growing community based model of
 service wherein the Company provides all the required medical and aviation
 staff, and serves all area hospitals and 911 services with emergency air
 medical transport.  The Company will utilize an American Eurocopter BK-117
 helicopter, considered one of the premier emergency medical helicopters in the
 world, which will be fully outfitted for advanced life support medical
 procedures.  ARCH operates one of the nation's largest single-service medical
 mission BK-117 fleets from bases throughout Illinois and Missouri.
     The new base will begin full time service May 6, 2001, and has already
 begun providing orientation to local hospitals, fire departments and rescue
 squads on effective and safe use of the new medical helicopter service.
