Their Businesses

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognizing the critical need
to improve communication and strengthen its relationships with its
distributors, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD) has launched a new
distributor Web site showcasing the company's portfolio of value-added
 programs, products and services.
As a fully integrated industrial gas producer and supplier, Air Products
has been an active participant in the cutting and welding market for over
50 years, operating more than 100 U.S. cylinder filling and distribution
outlets and working with over 200 distributors to supply high quality gas
products and equipment. The company's new Web site, accessible at
www.airproducts.com/distributors, reflects Air Products' focus on establishing
long-standing relationships with its distributors based on a mutual
 understanding of customers' needs.
The new site features information on Air Products':

-- Alliance of Air Products Distributors (AAPD): A buying association
combining the purchasing power and informational exchange between Air
Products and its distributors, focused on helping members benefit from
the best possible pricing on routinely purchased welding and cutting
goods, a full range of services and e-business tools. Distributors
who purchase 80 percent of their atmospheric gases requirements from
Air Products are eligible to join. They will, however, need to commit
to supporting the AAPD's purchasing commitments to its vendor
partners. The program is designed to improve member distributors'
ability to compete more profitably in their markets.

-- Bulk Gases Program: Once a distributor has signed a bulk gas account,
Air Products can provide support to the distributorship by leasing
cryogenic tanks, performing site inspections prior to tank
installation and/or fill, or by providing the complete installation.

-- Internet/E-Business opportunities: Air Products joined forces with
VerticalNet(R) and Microsoft(R) to deliver a comprehensive suite of
e-business solutions designed to integrate all the components
necessary to transact business on the Web. Some of the components of
this product and service offering include easy-to-find product
information, electronic catalogue and transaction capabilities, and
related online order management. These solutions provide significant
time and cost savings and financial benefits to both buyers and
        sellers.

-- Lead generation services: Air Products now offers lead generation and
telemarketing services to its distributors on a turnkey basis. These
services provide an effective means of generating prospects, typically
with one out of every 12 calls made resulting in an appointment and
one out of every three appointments resulting in an order. Air
Products can establish a targeted prospect list unique to the
distributorship, develop a customized script, qualify prospects and
document all calls for the distributor.

-- Maxx Range of Shielding Gases for welding: Air Products' novel line of
Maxx shielding gases-three Ferromaxx(TM) gases for steel, three
Inomaxx(TM) gases for stainless steel, and an Alumaxx(TM) Plus gas for
aluminum-improve productivity by increasing weld speeds and reducing
rejects. They also protect people at work by generating the lowest
levels of ozone and fumes. Distributors who qualify to carry these
products can benefit by growing existing accounts and capturing new
        ones.

-- Surplus equipment: As a major producer of industrial, medical and
specialty gases worldwide, Air Products routinely replaces or
relocates equipment within its operations. While the company attempts
to re-deploy as much of this equipment as possible among its own
locations, it does offer distributors a significant inventory of
surplus equipment which can benefit their transfill or liquid bulk
        operations.

In addition to these features, the new Web site also provides a
comprehensive list of Air Products' gas, equipment and service offerings --
including links to Material Safety Data Sheets -- and contact information for
all of the company's U.S. distributor managers.

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (www.airproducts.com) is the world's only
combined gases and chemicals company. Founded more than 60 years ago, the
business has annual revenues of $5.5 billion and operations in 30 countries.
Air Products is a market leader in the global electronics and chemical
processing industries, and a longstanding innovator in many industrial
markets, including coatings, adhesives and polyurethanes. The company
distinguishes itself through its 17,500 employees around the world, who build
lasting relationships with their customers and communities based on
 understanding, integrity and passion.

NOTE: This release may contain forward-looking statements. Actual
results could vary materially, due to changes in current expectations.
