Akron-Canton Airport has Busiest October of All Time

GREEN, Ohio, Nov. 22, 2011  /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Thank you Northeast Ohio! As we approach this weekend of gratitude for life's gifts, the Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) couldn't be more thankful to our Customers for starting their air trip from CAK. In October, a total of 148,113 Customers traveled through the airport making it the airport's busiest October of all time. It is also the airport's fifth best month in history. The October number beat our previous busiest October set in 2010, by 15,064 passengers, an 11 percent increase. For the first ten months of the year, 1,378,318 total travelers flew CAK, a 5.3 percent increase compared to 2010.

Customers aboard AirTran Airways, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines, increased 19 percent compared to October 2010 carrying 70,900 passengers to six nonstop destinations including Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Milwaukee, New York and Boston. Delta Air Lines, offering nonstop flights to Atlanta and Detroit, was up 27 percent compared to last year carrying 30,800. With 16,300 passengers, Frontier Airlines with nonstop flights to Denver gained 10 percent.  US Airways, offering nonstop flights to Charlotte, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, gained 2 percent with 22,348 total Customers.
