Alaska Airlines Selects MRO Software For Aircraft Maintenance

MAXIMO Aviation Manager Automates Carrier's Aircraft Upkeep

Apr 26, 2001, 01:00 ET from MRO Software, Inc.

BEDFORD, Mass., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- MRO Software (Nasdaq: MROI), the
leading provider of solutions for maintenance optimization, industrial supply
chain planning and supplier enablement, announced today that Alaska Airlines,
the tenth largest U.S. airline and dominant carrier between the Pacific
Northwest and California, has selected MAXIMO(R) as its maintenance management
software for its fleet of 96 aircraft. Alaska Airlines chose MRO Software's
MAXIMO Aviation Manager(TM) solution to maximize the uptime of its fleet by
using the product to meet the stringent and demanding requirements of tracking
aircraft parts and components. The product will also be used to optimize
Alaska Airlines' personnel, time and financial resources. The agreement was
signed in MRO Software's quarter ended March 31, 2001.
"During our evaluation, we found MAXIMO Aviation Manager to be a useful
tool designed specifically to meet our strict requirements and the
requirements of regulatory bodies in our industry," said Brian Hirshman,
Alaska Airlines' staff vice president of maintenance. "With MAXIMO Aviation
Manager, Alaska Airlines can schedule aircraft maintenance in an automated,
reliable fashion, increasing our productivity and aircraft up-time -- which
helps us deliver quality customer service."
Air Transport Association (ATA) codes can be incorporated into MAXIMO,
reducing data input time and providing access to industry standards for
reporting for further automation and efficiencies. MAXIMO Aviation Manager
can also track multiple meters associated with a single piece of equipment and
provides 'Parent Equipment' capabilities for reduced data entry. Flight Log
capabilities, labor certification tracking, inventory, purchasing and
scheduling functions all contribute to MAXIMO Aviation Manager's role in
gathering a detailed collection of data. This analyzed data helps Alaska
Airlines automate its aircraft maintenance management needs.
"Airlines depend on meeting a tight flight schedule to remain competitive
and to keep customer service and satisfaction levels high. These types of
needs require a flexible and thorough aviation maintenance application that is
equal to meeting these critical requirements," said Chip Drapeau, president
and CEO of MRO Software. "Air travel is filled with variables, and aircraft
maintenance is an important factor that carriers can control with the help of
 our solution."
