LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Allan Singer has been named Executive Vice President of Distribution and Strategy for OWN: THE OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK. It was announced today by Christina Norman, Chief Executive Officer of OWN, to whom he will report.
In his new role, Mr. Singer will lead the content distribution and sales strategy for OWN. Mr. Singer comes to OWN from Comcast where he served as Senior Vice President of Content Acquisition. Based in Los Angeles, he begins on November 2.

At launch OWN will be in more than 70 million homes, and he will be instrumental in creating and building our relationship with our affiliate partners."
Mr. Singer's work at Comcast began in 2003 where, as Senior Vice President of Programming Investments, he managed the expansion of Comcast's network portfolio, including the acquisition of TechTV and the successful launches of TV One, Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Comcast SportsNet West, SNY and PBS Kids Sprout. In 2006, Mr. Singer's focus was moved to Comcast's sports division as Senior Vice President of Sports Business Development. Until recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Content Acquisition for Comcast Cable.
Prior to his work at Comcast, Mr. Singer was Senior Vice President of Programming at AT&T Broadband, LLC and President of Satellite Services, Inc., where he managed content acquisition and carriage of networks, as well as negotiated rights acquisitions with content providers for the then largest cable company.
Mr. Singer holds both a Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado in Boulder and a Bachelor of Arts from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. He currently serves on the board for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southeast Pennsylvania.
