AMCORE Further Integrates Asset Management With Retail Banking Services

 Financial Inc. (Nasdaq:   AMFI) announced business changes today that support
 its goal of providing integrated banking and asset management services to
 customers.  This move encourages greater value for customers, differentiation
 for the company and growth for its investors.
     To better support these structural changes, AMCORE has streamlined its
 management team and announced the departure of three executives.  James F.
 Warsaw, president and chief executive officer of AMCORE Bank, N.A.; Lewis
 Jones, senior vice president, investments and bank portfolio manager; and
 Wanda Liptow, senior vice president, compensation and benefits will leave the
 organization.
     Ken Edge, president and chief operating officer of AMCORE Financial Inc.,
 immediately assumes the additional title of president of AMCORE Bank, N.A.
 David W. Miles, executive vice president of AMCORE Financial, Inc. and
 president and chief executive officer of AMCORE Investment Group, N.A., will
 assume the additional role of executive vice president and chief operating
 officer, AMCORE Bank.
