American Airlines Reports March Traffic

    FORT WORTH, Texas, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines reported its
 systemwide traffic decreased 4.3 percent in March year over year, on a
 capacity decrease of 3.5 percent.  The system load factor dropped 0.6 points
 to 72.6 percent.
     International traffic was down in March 0.1 percent on a decrease in
 capacity of 2.3 percent.  Domestic traffic was down 6.3 percent on a decrease
 in capacity of 4.1 percent.
     American boarded 7.3 million passengers for the month, down 5.6 percent
 from March 2000.
