    MINNEAPOLIS, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- American Express will officially
 open a skyway from its new headquarters tower to the Baker Center tomorrow,
 adding to the more than 5.5 miles of skyway connections in downtown
 Minneapolis. The new skyway, located at 707- 2nd Avenue South, between 7th and
 8th Streets, will allow more than 3,600 American Express employees access to
 the Baker Center, including all of its merchants and other American Express
 offices.
     "We are very excited to have this skyway connection," said Kathy Stalwick,
 vice president - Real Estate at American Express. "It will be a huge benefit
 and time-saver for our employees, who will now be able to cross the street in
 minutes while being sheltered from adverse weather conditions."  Nearly one
 year ago, American Express opened its doors to its new Financial Center.
     To help celebrate the grand opening, American Express will hold a
 ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19.  Pam Moret, senior
 vice president - products at American Express and Minneapolis council member
 Lisa Goodman will kick off the event.
