Americans for Truth Project Urges Helms, Senate To Let Massachusetts Parents Testify Against Cellucci

AFT Brings Concerned Mass. Mother to Senate Hearing

WASHINGTON, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter LaBarbera, director of the
Americans for Truth Project of Kerusso Ministries, urged Sen. Jesse Helms and
other Senate Foreign Relations Committee members considering the nomination of
Massachusetts Gov. Paul Cellucci as Ambassador to Canada to allow the
testimony of Massachusetts parents who are outraged at Cellucci for presiding
over the most pro-homosexual school system in the nation.
A hearing to discuss the Cellucci's nomination is scheduled for today,
Wednesday, April 4, at 9:30 a.m., in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Room
 419.
Since Gov. Cellucci emerged as President Bush's pick for the
ambassadorship, over 50 pro-family organizations in the United States and
Canada have come out against his nomination. But despite thousands of phone
calls and e-mails flooding Capitol Hill, Sen. Helms, who chairs the Foreign
Relations Committee, has yet to call any of Cellucci's critics from
 Massachusetts as witnesses.
Americans for Truth will bring Susan Fuchs, a resident of Hopkington,
Mass., and a longtime critic of "politically correct" abuses in the state's
schools, to the Foreign Relations Committee hearing for interviews. In
addition, AFT will submit the written testimony of Scott Whiteman, the former
executive director of the Parents Rights Coalition, against Cellucci. With a
simple tape recorder, Whiteman exposed the worst homosexual-education scandal
in the nation -- the so-called "Fistgate" conference held last year at Tufts
University in Boston. His tape reveals employees of the Massachusetts
Departments of Education and Health giving children "how-to" discussions on
 various homosexual perversions.
LaBarbera dismissed the contention of Gov. Cellucci's handlers that he
effectively addressed the Fistgate scandal by firing the homosexuals who
 taught the 'Queer Sex" workshop.
"The Tufts scandal was merely the culmination of Cellucci's promotion of
homosexual, bisexual, and 'transgender' identities for troubled students," he
said. "He increased the budget for homosexual school programs and endorsed
the idea of creating a network of taxpayer-subsidized homosexual clubs in
Massachusetts public schools. His programs shut out those who believe that
homosexual behavior is wrong, unhealthy, and changeable. Mr. Cellucci must not
be rewarded for putting vulnerable kids at risk."
LaBarbera said Republican leaders' failure to criticize Cellucci despite
intense grassroots opposition exposes a growing rift between fiscally-oriented
GOP politicians and pro-family advocates who do not want to see the Party join
the Democrats in supporting homosexual activism: "Paul Cellucci personifies
the risks for the GOP of embracing the Log Cabin Republicans' homosexual
agenda. At its core, it is an extreme, anti-Christian agenda that may well
impress the liberal media, but will turn away millions of potential
Republicans and minority voters from the Party."
