AmeriSuites Continues American Spirit Racing Sponsorship in Trans-Am Series

Introduces New Jaguar XKR in Three-Year Deal

Apr 10, 2001, 01:00 ET from AmeriSuites

FAIRFIELD, N.J., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- AmeriSuites has announced it has
signed a new three-year sponsorship of American Spirit Racing's (ASR) team in
the BF Goodrich Trans-Am Series. A new #12 AmeriSuites Jaguar XKR will be
driven this year by Michael Lewis, replacing a Ford Mustang.
The 2001 racing season represents the third year of AmeriSuites'
sponsorship which has been expanded this year to include designation as the
"Preferred Hotel of the Trans-Am Series" and as the title sponsor of the
"AmeriSuites Rookie of the Year" award. In addition, for the first time, the
Trans-Am Series will have select races broadcast nationally on the CBS
television network, with the remaining races broadcast on the Speedvision
cable station. As part of its sponsorship, AmeriSuites will receive audio
mentions during the CBS broadcasts, three (3) 30-second commercial time spots
during every Speedvision broadcast and will be part of the "AmeriSuites Field
Summary" feature during all Speedvision broadcasts.
"We are very enthusiastic about our increased participation in this year's
Trans-Am Series," noted A.F. Petrocelli, Chairman and CEO of AmeriSuites'
parent company, Prime Hospitality. "Over the past several years, this series
has allowed us to reach new and valuable customers in different markets and
this enhanced sponsorship will bring us even greater exposure."
During AmeriSuites' initial sponsorship in 1999, the ASR team led the
Championship early on, finishing the year in fourth place. Despite a strong
start in 2000, a series of on-track accidents hindered the #12 AmeriSuites
Ford Mustang in the Championship point race. Therefore, the team decided to
concentrate efforts on developing a new, fuel-injected engine to give them a
 technological advance in 2001.
"The new engine and car provides us with a package that we believe is the
best in the Series, and one that will enable us to put the AmeriSuites Jaguar
in the Winner's Circle," noted Jon Lewis, President and CEO of ASR.
In addition to prominent AmeriSuites identification on the #12 Jaguar, car
transporter unit and team uniforms, the chain's Preferred Hotel designation
requires all Series cars and transporters to display the AmeriSuites logo. The
logo will also appear on the victory podium backdrop at all events and
celebrations. Drivers in contention for the Rookie of the Year award will also
be required to sport an AmeriSuites logo on their uniforms.
The BF Goodrich Trans-Am Series consists of 11 races throughout the United
States from April through October, beginning with the March 16th season opener
 in Sebring, FL.
AmeriSuites was recently ranked #1 among Midpriced Hotels without Food &
Beverage facilities in Business Traveler News' annual Top Hotel Survey. All
properties provide comfortable accommodations with separate living and
sleeping areas and a wide array of amenities, including kitchen/wet bar area
with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Other amenities include
complimentary bountiful breakfast buffets, high-speed Internet access, fitness
centers, meeting space, and heated indoor or outdoor pools. AmeriSuites also
offer "Taking Care of Business" (TCB) Suites, with additional amenities for
business travelers. Special "Make A Break For It" packages are also available
for leisure travelers. Reservations can be made through AmeriSuites' toll-free
