Annuity & Life Re Reports on Annual Shareholder Meeting

    HAMILTON, Bermuda, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Annuity and Life Re
 (Holdings), Ltd. (Nasdaq:   ALRE) today reported Shareholder approval of all
 items of business at its Annual Meeting of Shareholders held on April 26,
 2001.
 
     1. Lawrence S. Doyle, Michael P. Esposito, Jr., Mark B. Grier and Jerry S.
 Rosenbloom were re-elected as directors of the Company for a three-year term,
 expiring at the Annual Shareholders Meeting in 2004.
 
     2. Mary R. Hennessy was elected as a director of the Company for a
 two-year term, expiring at the Annual Shareholders Meeting in 2003.
 
     3. KPMG was appointed as independent accountants for the Company for the
 current fiscal year.
 
     At the Board of Directors meeting held subsequent to the Annual
 Shareholder meeting, the Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend
 of $0.05 per share on the corporation's common shares.  The dividend will be
 payable May 31, 2001, to shareholders of record on May 17, 2001.
     The Company also is pleased to announce its intention to transfer the
 listing of its Common Stock to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), under the
 new ticker symbol "ANR."  It is expected that the new listing will be
 effective within the next three months.
     Annuity & Life Re has been listed on the Nasdaq National Market under the
 ticker symbol "ALRE" since its initial public offering on April 8, 1998.
 Simultaneous with the NYSE listing, the Company's shares will no longer be
 traded on Nasdaq.
