Answerthink and Synhrgy Announce Strategic Alliance Designed to Leverage Best Practices in HR Administration and Technology

Agreement Provides `Missing Link' to Companies Considering HR Outsourcing:

Objective Metrics for Guiding Performance, Setting ROI Targets

Apr 03, 2001, 01:00 ET from Answerthink, Inc.

    MIAMI and HOUSTON, April 3 /PRNewswire/ --
Answerthink, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANSR), and Synhrgy HR Technologies, Inc., a
provider of total human resource solutions, today announced a strategic
alliance that introduces a new level of flexibility and objectivity into the
often one-sided, purely cost-driven decision to outsource human resources
 administration and technology.
Through the alliance, clients of Synhrgy, which provides Web-enabled
technology and business process outsourcing services for human resource
management, have the opportunity to benchmark individual human resources
processes or their entire HR function in order to establish a baseline for
evaluating the potential return on investment of their HR improvement
 initiatives.
Participating companies make use of a Web portal product developed by
Hackett Benchmarking & Research, a part of Answerthink, and announced earlier
this year. Via a private-label portal, Synhrgy clients use an online
benchmarking tool developed by Hackett Benchmarking & Research designed to
permit streamlined, confidential collection, aggregation and analysis of data.
Syhnrgy clients have the option of keeping their performance findings
confidential or sharing them with Synhrgy to guide their outsourcing
initiative. By comparing their performance to top-performing organizations in
the Hackett database, companies will be able to set realistic targets for
performance improvements, rapid deployment of advanced technology solutions
and enhanced scalability of leading-edge best practices.
The alliance involves the renowned human resources best practices
benchmark study of Hackett Benchmarking & Research. The advantage to
companies that want to streamline their HR organizations is the provision of
an independent, "trusted third-party" source of performance metrics to allow
them to quantify in advance the potential cost reductions and service
improvements achievable by outsourcing aspects of their HR functions.
The Synhrgy-Answerthink deal provides new accountability to the booming
area of integrated HR outsourcing. In this model, all or many HR activities
-- such as compensation and benefits administration -- are handled by a single
vendor, with the goal of reducing complexity, minimizing data-interface
problems and smoothing the way to employee self-service for routine
administrative transactions. As detailed in the 2001 edition of Hackett's
best practices benchmark study of human resources, world-class organizations
no longer necessarily recognize HR administration as a core competency and
have used outsourcing to reduce costs by almost 50 percent.
"In this way," states Richard T. Roth, managing director of Hackett
Benchmarking & Research, "companies start right out of the gate with solid
empirical data about their current state, around which they can construct a
new HR model appropriate to their particular situation. Heretofore, such
decisions have tended to be all-or-nothing executive fiats in which, more
often than not, the hoped-for savings and service improvements failed to
materialize. Increasingly, we're seeing world-class companies benefiting from
outsourcing routine information-dissemination and data-management activities,
which cut across all HR processes, not just administration. The decision to
outsource frees up HR specialists within the company to focus more on their
 role as strategic partners."
"The Synhrgy-Answerthink alliance provides an unprecedented level of
decision support to companies that want to improve their HR organization
structure, drive cost savings and improve employee service levels. Companies
now have the power of an independent source of best practices and performance
data to allow them to make complex decisions about things like implementing
Web-based self-service -- with a greater level of confidence that they will be
able to leverage the maximum business value from their investments," comments
 Michael Taggart, president, Synhrgy.
