Aperture Signs Agreement With Humana to Provide Online Provider Directory Software

Apr 17, 2001, 01:00 ET from Aperture Credentialing, Inc.

LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Aperture, a national leader in
provider data management and the creators of KnowYourDoc.com, announced today
the signing of an agreement with Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) to license
KnowYourDoc.com software. The agreement allows Humana to provide detailed
Web-based directories of contracted physicians and other health care
professionals. The software will be used with Humana's new digital health
plan expected to be offered later this year.
The KnowYourDoc software provides a comprehensive online provider
directory with advanced features such as the ability to view:

     * a complete listing of physician specialties,
     * detailed practice information,
     * the educational background and qualifications of Humana contracted
physicians and other health care professionals, and
     * office hours and locations as well as hospital affiliations.

Humana will offer physicians and other health professionals the ability to
further distinguish their practice among directory listings, a service made
possible due to the flexibility of the KnowYourDoc software. Health
professionals will be able to provide such details as practice specialty,
special office hours and unique practice features during periodic data
gathering phases. These additions will help consumers with specific needs or
preferences to locate a provider who most closely meets their unique criteria.
Once deployed, KnowYourDoc will help Humana digital health plan members find
doctors with less time spent searching and with easy access to comprehensive
profiles on the physicians they select.
"We are very happy to provide Humana with KnowYourDoc software as it's one
of the most creative and innovative online provider directories in the
country," said Bob Bunker, chairman and chief executive officer of Aperture.
"The detail it provides will certainly differentiate Humana's physicians and
providers in the marketplace and add great value for their members."
"Our goal is to provide our consumers with useful information that helps
them take a more active role in their health care," said Bruce J. Goodman,
Humana senior vice president and chief information officer. "KnowYourDoc
provides the framework we needed for a new digital health plan that meets this
important goal, provides flexibility for potential future needs, and meets our
 initial deployment requirements."
