Aplettix Expands Product Offering to Provide End-to-End Solution for Secure Online Credit Card Transactions

New Technology Empowers Financial Institutions That Both Issue Cards And

Acquire Merchant Transactions to Help Their Online Merchants Increase The

Number of Secure Transactions, and Offer Payment Guarantee for Aplettix Pseudo

Card Number Based Transactions

Apr 26, 2001, 01:00 ET from Aplettix Inc.

NEW YORK, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Aplettix, a leading developer and
marketer of secure e-commerce and m-commerce solutions, today announced the
latest addition to its product family. Nexus-1(TM) Acquirer is ideally suited
to financial institutions operating in an "on-us" environment-those
institutions that both issue payment cards for consumers and acquire merchant
transactions. Institutions with a significant percentage of on-us business
will be able to provide their online merchants with the equivalent of a card-
present environment and a payment guarantee. The Nexus-1 platform will also
support the future 3D-Secure protocol from Visa, allowing financial
institutions to use the protocol with no separate infrastructure investment.
Guy Netef, Vice President Marketing at Aplettix stated that, "the
introduction of Nexus-1 Bridge demonstrates our commitment to creating the
most comprehensive, online payment solution in the e-commerce industry."
Netef elaborated "the Aplettix Nexus-1 Acquirer solution is complementary to
the Aplettix issuer solution, enabling merchants and acquirers to play an
active role in securing their e-commerce transactions."
Fraud detection and dispute avoidance are key to merchants who currently
bear the cost of card-not-present transactions. Aplettix's Nexus-1 Issuer
secure online transaction solution allocates disposable credit card numbers
for online transactions. Nexus-1 Acquirer's recognition of these numbers
creates the equivalent of a card-present environment, thereby enabling the
guarantee of payment to the merchant.
Nexus-1 Acquirer also provides the ability for merchants to identify their
online customers who are making secure transactions supported by Aplettix and
allows merchants to provide these consumers and new on-line consumers with
 incentives to make secure transactions.
According to Bank Technology News, fraud and the associated penalties are
expected to cost merchants over $60 billion in 2005(1) with Internet purchases
30 times more likely than physical purchases to be fraudulent,(2) online
merchants need the ability to accept credit cards online, in an easy-to-use,
safe and secure environment, where the payment is guaranteed.
"The introduction of Nexus-1 Acquirer is the next phase in Aplettix's role
as an e-commerce facilitator," said Roy Bricker, Vice President Product
Management for Aplettix. "The Nexus-1 enhanced platform provides an end-to-
end e-commerce solution that benefits card issuers, acquirers, merchants, card
 associations and card holders."
