APPA Members Offer Online Energy Information

Apr 27, 2001, 01:00 ET from Enercom, Inc.

WASHINGTON, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Residents of two more cities have
joined the growing numbers of public power customers able to visit their
utility's Web site, "click" through an on-line home energy audit, and receive
recommendations for lowering their energy bills.
Menasha, Wis., Utilities and Lincoln, Neb., Electric System have added
links on their Web sites to the Energy Depot suite of energy use analysis and
information services developed by Atlanta, Georgia-based Enercom, Inc., and
marketed through the American Public Power Association's Hometown Connections
 subsidiary at discount pricing.
"This online-do-it-yourself, home energy audit will be a gateway to a
wealth of electronic information and resources for our customers," said Dennis
Rydzewski, general manager, Menasha Utilities (www.menashautilities.com ).
"We are excited to offer this Internet audit service and hope that it will
help us establish another line of communication with our customers while
providing valuable data and information to the residents of Menasha."
The home questionnaire allows customers to complete their audit in 10 to
15 minutes. Once the questionnaire is completed, customers receive a
graphics-rich Personal Energy Profile report that includes energy usage,
annual energy cost by energy system/appliance, and specific recommendations
 with cost savings estimates.
"We reviewed a number of online energy audit services and decided that the
Hometown Connections/Enercom program is best suited to our needs," said Larry
Pelter, consumer products programs manager, Lincoln Electric System
(www.les.com ). "We have a long history of working with
Enercom, having been one of their first customers for computerized energy
audit services in 1980, and we are well aware of the fine quality of their
 products and services."
