Applied Micro Circuits Corporation Standardizes on Documentum 4i eBusiness Platform for Enterprise Content Management

Benefits to Include Enabling Business to Customer Relationships, Improve

Automation and Productivity and to Drive New Product Development Process

Apr 18, 2001, 01:00 ET from Documentum, Inc.

PLEASANTON, Calif., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Documentum (Nasdaq: DCTM),
the leading enterprise content management provider, today announced that
Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (Nasdaq: AMCC), a leader in high-bandwidth
silicon connectivity solutions for the world's optical networks, is
implementing the Documentum 4i eBusiness Platform globally to minimize
overhead costs associated with managing enterprise-wide content, including
technical documentation, product data sheets, and engineering change orders.
AMCC projects the implementation will provide significant savings by
automating content approval workflows, streamlining rendering processes, and
driving development efforts for new products.
"By centralizing content in a single repository for all of our distributed
facilities, Documentum's 4i eBusiness Platform provides unprecedented control
over content, enterprise wide, even while it lets us automate approval
processes that keep product development efforts moving forward quickly," said
Pat McGinty, Chief Information Officer for AMCC. "In so doing, the platform
creates a competitive advantage for us by facilitating collaborative
creation--with internal staff and external customers--of product
specifications, product data sheets, and engineering change orders that define
 product requirements."
AMCC anticipates the Documentum 4i eBusiness Platform will eliminate the
need for manual, labor-intensive document tracking and approval processes.
With its support for XML, the platform facilitates content re-use, streamlines
the creation and management of document templates, and easily renders content
in a wide variety of standard formats. In addition, AMCC favors this solution
because it can publish and manage Web content.
"We need a content management platform with strong version control and
workflow capabilities in order to efficiently automate the production and
exchange of technical marketing documents and engineering product
specifications, McGinty said. "But we also wanted a platform that would allow
us to easily share these documents, and other content, with customers and
partners via a corporate portal or extranet. Documentum 4i eBusiness Platform
delivers all of this functionality in one inclusive package."
