AppliedTheory Receives $1.3 Million Contract From Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations

Apr 24, 2001, 01:00 ET from AppliedTheory Corporation

NEW YORK, April 24 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- AppliedTheory
Corporation (Nasdaq: ATHY), the Internet knowledge, development and managed
hosting partner for hundreds of large corporations, today announced its
agreement with the State of Hawaii, Department of Labor and Industrial
Relations (DLIR), Workforce Development Division (WDD) to supply software
conversion and integration services, and to install the One Stop Operating
 System (OSOS).
The $1.3 million contract will enable the State of Hawaii to install OSOS,
an automated application solution developed by AppliedTheory to help state
employment agencies share information online easily and without high
infrastructure costs and thereby meet Federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
 requirements.
"AppliedTheory's managed hosting services offerings have made the company
an ideal technology-oriented service provider for local, state and federal
government agencies such as the Port of Seattle, the Department of Labor,
Charlotte's Chamber of Commerce and now the State of Hawaii," said
AppliedTheory President and CEO Danny E. Stroud. "As a partner to
corporations and government entities alike, we strive to provide value-added
solutions that maximize the capabilities of the Internet to help them reduce
 costs and operate more efficiently."
AppliedTheory also will assist with the development of a remote hosting
facility located on the island of O'ahu, within the DLIR facility. The
installation of the OSOS and integration into existing business systems will
leverage the advantages of the multi-tiered, Web-based OSOS system, while
retaining Hawaii's investment in IT resources over the last twenty years.
As part of the agreement, AppliedTheory will train State of Hawaii
employees in methods for efficiently using the new OSOS system. The project
is scheduled for completion by October 2001.
The contract with Hawaii is an example of AppliedTheory's further
expansion of service to federal and local government agencies. In addition to
the recent award of a General Services Administration (GSA) Contract that
qualifies AppliedTheory to sell e-business services directly to federal
agencies, the company continues to build upon its work with America's Job Bank
to provide related services to state and local governments across the country.
